About the Show

Based on the electrifying novel by Bret Easton Ellis, this musical tells the story of Patrick Bateman, a young and handsome Wall Street banker with impeccable taste and unquenchable desires. Patrick and his elite group of friends spend their days in chic restaurants, exclusive clubs and designer labels. But at night, Patrick takes part in a darker indulgence, and his mask of sanity is starting to slip…

This production contains the use of strobe lights and haze. This production is recommend for ages 16+.

The conversation will be hosted by faculty dramaturg Dr. Donald P. Gagnon and moderated by student dramaturgs Rachel Rosenberg and Maya Roldan. Admission to the Community Conversation is included with your ticket purchase to this performance.

Shane M. Murphy, Ph.D. is Professor Emeritus, Psychology, at Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) in Danbury, Connecticut.Shane was formerly Head of the United States Olympic Committee’s Sport Psychology Department and worked with the USA Team and individual sports at the 1988, 1992, 1996, and 2002 Olympics. Shane is a past-President of the Society of Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology of the American Psychological Association. He is a Fellow of APA. He received the Distinguished Professional Practice Award in sport psychology in 2000 from the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). He was a member of the WCSU Psychology Department for over 20 years, and Chair of the Department for 6 years.

His books include Sport Psychology Interventions, The Sport Psych Handbook, The Achievement Zone, and The Cheers and the Tears: A Healthy Alternative to the Dark Side of Youth Sports Today. He is currently editing the second edition of The Oxford Handbook of Sport and Performance Psychology.
